USES OF REIKI
Reiki has so many uses, the most common being to heal or balance a certain ailment or to bring peace, relaxation and harmony to the recipient. Whatever the reason, Reiki always flows for the highest good. It is widely recognized that most illness and disease (dis-ease) starts from stress, and all stress starts with a single thought. Since Reiki is a holistic therapy, when received it works on so many levels. It can work on the physical issue, the mental stimulus or trigger and even transcend time to work on something which has been left unresolved. As a result Reiki can impact in many ways upon the recipient. They may feel relaxed, calmed, euphoric, spacey, emotional, empowered, soothed, balanced and even restless (the Reiki may bring up issues that may need further work)...but all be assured that what happens is for your highest good. Many people get visions and random thoughts during a Reiki session that they may want to discuss afterwards. Reiki as a practice not only involves the laying of hands, but also the sharing afterwards of the experience. Reiki is not meant to replace conventional medicine or treatment. Do not stop medication or treatments you may be on. That is an issue for you and your doctor. Instead, add Reiki to your treatments. It can only do you good; even if it is only to get an hour or so just for yourself. For this reason Reiki is also great for those who just want to chill out, relax, get away from the world for an hour or so and give something special to themselves. If anything, receiving a Reiki treatment is great way to relax and revitalize yourself. Apart from healing, balancing and relaxation Reiki has so many other uses, especially for those that move onto second degree Reiki and Masters. Both Suzie and myself use Reiki to charge our food and drink, safe guard us when traveling, to clear our homes of negative energy, to treat pets, for protection of ourselves and our possessions, to balance the energy in a room, for prosperity, to make learning easier, to send Reiki to those who may live in another country, to bring harmony to a meeting, to heal a distant hurt that we may have been too young to understand or control and even on inanimate objects like our computers and electrical equipment. Most of this will be taught to you at Second degree Reiki (see Learn Reiki for more) as you learn the sacred symbols and different ways to use them, expanding your knowledge and uses of Reiki.

Reiki Treatments
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a simple process. Quite often the recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. In some cases the recipient may be sitting. The most important thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything. Reiki can even transcend time and space. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. These areas are taught to the Reiki practitioner at LEVEL 1 REIKI. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms (Reiki is part of a holistic therapy). A full treatment usually takes around 45 minutes to 1½ hours with each position held for several minutes; depending on the practitioner and the requirements of the recipient. Shorter treatments can also be done. When a person is giving Reiki, irrelevant of the hand positions, the Reiki will flow to where it is most needed. You can not over dose on Reiki as the right amount at that specific time is always given. Reiki always flows for the persons highest good. Reiki has the ability to transcend time and space. A person does not need to be in the room to receive Reiki. They can be anywhere in the world. Long distance Reiki is learnt at Reiki Level 2. Usually the practice is carried out by arranging with the the receiver a time the Reiki will be sent. This is done so the receiver can be in a relaxed and safe environment. It may not be suitable to send Reiki at any time when the receiver may be driving or working; as the effect of the Reiki may not be compatible with such activities. In any case, being relaxed and in your favourite chair, for example, means you will be more open to receiving the Reiki. 'Distance Reiki' can also be done for animals or pets that may not want to or cannot be handled. Q: If Reiki can be delivered long distance than why do people go to see a practioner? A: While Reiki is a spiritual energy, people are flesh and blood. While our higher self may appreciate the Reiki no matter how it is sent, our physical body likes the warmth, the feeling of being nurtured and the loving vibration human touch can bring. Long distance Reiki is usually practiced when the person can not physically be in attendance. Q: What do you mean it can be sent through time? A: Like a psychologist may deal with childhood issues, Reiki can be sent through time to help heal a certain period in your life. As this occurs, the healing transcends time and space and impacts upon the person in the here and now. |
